Unfortunately we have had to cancel all walks until further notice as a matter of precaution for everyone's sake.
I found it difficult to get outside due to depression and anxiety and was aware from other case studies that exercising in nature was good for mental well-being. Also I had a frozen shoulder which had very limited movement and no improvement in range since discharge from the York NHS Physiotherapist. Even after a few weeks I noticed how I had improved both mentally and physically, this was particularly in my mood and sleep on the days that I had Nordic walked. My relationships have improved and it was fun getting to know others in the group.
I heard about Nordic walking from someone and thought I would give it a go to improve my overall health which had not been good. I hoped that I would meet new people and prompt well-being through increased exercise. I have met nice people, reduced both my weight and diabetes risk, and become healthier. I also have asthma and my breathing feels better. I also feel happier and walk more often now.
I joined Nordic walking to increase my opportunity to Nordic walk more, to improve the movement and reduce pain in my shoulder after a bone fracture; and to support the gains that I have made in Pilates. I wanted to meet new people, reduce stress and continue with good health. Also to support Michelle, St Nicks and the green environment. I have improved the movement in my shoulder to nearly normal range and I find Nordic walking very enjoyable!
I had recently been very unwell and was referred to participate in Ecotherapy and I chose Nordic walking. I wanted to promote my well-being and get active again. I went for it and got the results I wanted. I am feeling better and am more active! Michelle is very nice.
