Our Nordic walks focus on improving general fitness to promote balance, flexibility and include strength for major muscle groups, as well as cardiovascular endurance, promoting good heart health. They can involve the use of circuits, resistance exercises, speed drills and/or interval training.
Our walks focus on overall health & well-being. Improvement is achieved through functional physical activies designed to be similar to movements like activities of daily living. Nordic walking creates lift which takes the pressure off the joints. This type of outdoors physical activity is promoted by Age UK, occupational and physio therapists.
Nordic walking uses 90 percent of the skeletal muscles, thus correct technique burns up to 20 to 46 percent more calories than walking alone, and helps weight maintenance and weight loss. Sessions can include healthy eating advice. Particularly effective for toning back of upper arms (bingo-wings) and chest (bust).
